Are Minimum Wage Requirements Rising In Your Area?

The federal minimum wage remains at $7.25 per hour, but many states and some localities have higher minimum wage requirements.  Seven states – Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Montana, Ohio, Oregon, Vermont, and Washington – are ringing in the New Year with minimum wage increases.  Even some cities are jumping on this bandwagon.  A San Francisco ordinance requires employers to pay a minimum of $10.24 per hour beginning January 1, 2012.  This is the highest minimum wage in the nation and marks the first time a minimum wage requirement has topped $10 per hour.  Employers must remain aware of developments on the federal, state, and local levels to remain in compliance with applicable labor laws.

Brody and Associates regularly advises management on complying with state and federal employment laws including wage and hour laws.  If we can be of assistance in this area, please contact us at info@brodyandassociates.com or 203.965.0560.
