New York passed a new law effective October 26, 2009, regarding new hires. For years New York Employers were obligated to provide new hires notice of their rate of pay and the regular pay day. Now, the notice must be in writing, and Employers must obtain written acknowledgement of receipt of the notice from each employee. For overtime-eligible (nonexempt) employees, the notice must also include their overtime rate of pay.
