The Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA)

The Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA) has gotten a lot of attention these last few months and it may get more national attention over the months. If it passes, the likelihood that your company will become unionized increases dramatically. As a prudent business person, you need to be aware of such developing trends. This is especially true now that former Republican Arlen Specter has switched parties and caused the Senate to be one vote away from being filibuster-poof. Although Senator Specter recently expressed opposition to the EFCA, it is quite possible that his new affiliation may lead to a change in his position. Are you ready?
Do you know who your supervisors are?
Are your supervisors trained?
Do your employees understand the dire consequences of signing a card?
Have you created a bargaining unit that is most advantageous to you?
If your answer to any of the above is “No,” seek experienced counsel to ensure that your workplace remains union-free.
