The Federal Department of Labor Issues New Minimum Wage and Employee Polygraph Protection Act Posters – Get Yours Today!

The United States Department of Labor (“DOL”) recently released updated posters regarding the federal minimum wage and the Employee Polygraph Protection Act (“EPPA”). The aesthetics of the posters have been updated.  A “QR code” is also now located at the bottom right of each poster.  This allows anyone with a smartphone to access more information by scanning the QR code with their phone.  Scanning the QR code on the minimum wage poster links the viewer to the Department of Labor’s webpage containing information about the Fair Labor Standards Act.  Similarly, scanning the QR code on the EPPA poster links the viewer to the Department of Labor’s webpage containing information about the EPPA.

Issuance of new posters does not indicate a change in the law – in fact, the federal minimum wage is still $7.25 per hour. However, the updated poster shows the DOL is continuing to use modern technology to help employees stay better informed of their rights.  Employers should ensure they stay compliant by displaying the most up-to-date posters.  You can access the EPPA poster at https://www.dol.gov/whd/regs/compliance/posters/eppac.pdf and the minimum wage poster at https://www.dol.gov/whd/regs/compliance/posters/minwage.pdf.
