Firm Happenings – June 2016

On June 3, 2016, Bob Brody gave a presentation at the American Conference Institute’s 27th National Forum on Wage & Hour Claims and Class Actions.  This is a national seminar held annually in New York City.  Bob presented regarding joint employer and contingent employer liability issues under wage and hour laws.

On June 8, 2016, Alex Friedman represented Connecticut Young Professionals at the Hartford Young Professionals & Entrepreneurs’ (“HYPE”) 10th Anniversary event.  The event celebrated HYPE’s 10 years of existence and showcased the partnerships it has formed, including with CTYP.

On June 13, 2016, Kate Bogard attended the Connecticut Legal Conference (“CLC”) in Hartford, Connecticut.  The CLC is a continuing legal education program hosted by the Connecticut Bar Association, and the largest annual gathering of Connecticut attorneys in the state.

On June 15, 2016, Alex Friedman attended a presentation at McKinsey & Company in New York City entitled “The Three Box Solution: A Conversation with Professor Vijay Govindarajan.”  Professor Govindarajan is the Coxe Distinguished Professor at Dartmouth’s Tuck School of Business and a Marvin Bower Fellow at Harvard Business School. He has appeared on the New York Times and Wall Street Journal bestseller lists.  He discussed his recently published book, “The Three Box Solution: A Strategy for Leading Innovation” which lays out his framework for innovation.

Bob Brody and Kate Bogard published an article in the June 2016 issue of Corporate Counselor entitled, “Joint Employment And the Contingent Worker.” The article addressed a hot-button issue in the world of labor and employment law – specifically, the various types of joint employer standards which may apply to companies and temporary employment and other types of staffing agencies on which they may rely for their labor supply and the consequences of being found a joint employer with such entities.

On June 16, 2016, Zachary Brody graduated from Coleytown Elementary School in Westport, Connecticut.  He will be matriculating to Coleytown Middle School in the Fall of 2016.  The Firm wishes him all the best in this new endeavor!
